Kyrie Hardiman was born in the United Kingdom in 1964.  She worked as a professional dancer in London performing with The Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Dance Unlimited, and other renowned dance companies. Her film and television work includes Shakespeare in Love, Cold Comfort Farm, A Dance to the Music of Time and Great Expectations (BBC and Channel 4).

Kyrie began teaching classical ballet and contemporary dance in 1984. She also worked as a choreographer and assistant director for several operas in London, Glasgow and Berkshire.

In 1994 Kyrie sustained a serious knee injury whist dancing. Alongside physiotherapy she chose Pilates as her main means of rehabilitation, training with Alan Herdman, in London. After a full and successful recovery she resumed her career, whilst continuing to practice Pilates. In 2002 she retired from dancing and moved to South Africa.

Kyrie was certified as a Pilates instructor in 2003 and opened her own studio, PilatesHere, in 2004 where she continues to teach and train.  Her experience includes working with professional swimmers, dancers and  athletes as well as with remedial clients.

Lyle Stanway started Pilates in 2003 and found the control and visualization of the muscles during exercise so amazing that she decided to do a teaching course with Kyrie in 2009. Lyle grew up in the swimming world choosing synchronized swimming.  She became captain of the Natal and Springbok squads and received the State Presidents Award for top sportswoman of the year.  When she retired, Lyle became a registered judge and gave back as much as she could to the sport. She believes that regular Pilates makes you stronger, more flexible and far more confident.
